LED Lighting

High Powered Spot LEDs
Moritex's MG Wave high-powered coaxial spot LED lights (MCEP Series) are designed to be compatible with our machine micro lenses. These small, lightweight lights utilize proprietary collector optics and light guides for maximum illuminance. Stable illumination can be achieved when used with a dedicated constant-current power source.

** New MLEP Power Sources **
Digital MLEP Power sources are now available. These power sources have two intensity adjustment controls for "fine" and "coarse" adjustment. They can also be externally controlled with an 8-bit digital signal.

Power Sources
The high-powered spot LEDs have their own unique constant current power sources, the MLEP Series. The MLEP-A03511LR is a single channel dedicated power source and the MLEP-A03513LR is a three channel source. Both have a maximum channel output of 350mA for each channel and allow for intensity control. The three channel power source not only supports three channel independent intensity control, but three channel coordinated intesnty control as well (in the combination mode).

Options
The MCEP-AD Series offers two optical fiber guide connection options that can be utilized with the high powered spot LEDs. The two options are the single lamp type guide (MCEP-ADLG) and the three lamp type guide (MCEP-AD3LGB). These options take advantage of Moritex's optical fiber technology to effectively direct the light to the light guide without losing intensity and, thereby, achieve higher illuminance. The three lamp type fiber connection can be used as a "light mixer" when different color high powered spot LEDs are connected. These fiber connectors are multi-adapter units compatible wiht all models of our standard light guides.

Direct Ring Type LEDs
High-illuminance LEDs are deployed at high density to produce 360ƒ shadow-free illumination. This standard range type of LED lighting can be used for a wide range of applications. The different sizes give you the ability to select the model that best matches our lenses. All the direct ring lights are available at red, green, blue, and white wavelengths.

Customization is available.

Low Angle Ring Type LEDs
The Low Angle Ring Type LEDs provide 360° illumination for reflective objects and the low angle design prevents reflections. These LEDs are ideal for slightly uneven surfaces and scratches. Various lighting angles are available at red, green, blue, and white wavelengths.

Major applications for these low-angle ring light LEDs include:
- Inspection of BGA solder ball position, shape, and area
- Reading laser engraving
- Inspection of wafers or glass substrates for scratches and dirt
- Edge extraction inspection and more

Shadowless Type LEDs
Moritex offers three types of MG Wave shadowless LEDs: ring type, low angle ring type, and low angle square type. The shadowless LEDs (also known as "dark field" LEDs) provide soft, even, and diffused lighting that is necessary when illuminating shiny objects and preventing the halo effect. The shadowless low angle square type LEDs are perfect for inspecting square shaped objects. All of the shadowless LEDs come in red, green, blue, and white wavelengths.
Common applications these LEDs are used for include:
- IC impress inspection & substrate part inspection
- Inspection of the side and internal surfaces of caps for dirt
- Visual inspection of wafers
- Solder inspection & connector pitch inspection
- Inspecion of BGAs and QFPs

Edge-Type Backlight LEDs
Moritex's MG Wave Edge-Type Backlight LEDs have a thin, compact design that is perfect when working with limited space. Even, uniform lighting and high intensity are achieved with the use of Moritex's proprietary light-guiding diffusion plate. A variety of shapes and sizes are available in red, green, blue, and white wavelengths.
These LEDs can be used for a range of applications including:
- Lead frame inspection
- Visual inspection of electronic parts
- Bend lead inspection for GFPs, QSPs, and SOPs
- Inspection for dirt on clear film
- A variety of silhouette observations

Array-Type Backlight LEDs
Moritex offers two different types of array type backlight LEDs: the MDBL and MDBC Series. The MDBL Series has been designed to provide a higher luminance than the edge type LEDs with lamp type LCDs mounted immediately beneath the lighting surface. The MDBC Series utilize a thin design of the chip mounted type that is optimal for space reduction. Applications include:
- Lead frame inspection
- Visual inspection of electronic parts
- Bend lead inspection for GFPs, QSPs, and SOPs

Coaxial/Simulated Coaxial LEDs
For our customers' coaxial lighting needs, Moritex offers coaxial and simulated coaxial episcopic LEDs. The compact coaxial LEDs of the MCEL Series were designed for the MML series telecentric lenses and are ideal for objects with highly reflective surfaces. The MSCL Series of pseudo-coaxial type LEDs produce simulated even coaxial lighting for our telecentric MML lenses and other lenses without coaxial episcopic illumination.
Major applications include:
- Alignment and surface inspection of highly reflective surfaces, such as wafers, metal surfaces, film, liquid crystals, and glass
- Pattern inspection on printed boards.

Coaxial/Simulated Coaxial LEDs Data Sheet will be available soon. For more information about this product, please contact one of our sales representatives.

Bar, Linear, & Oblique Type LEDs

MG Wave Power Sources
The MLEK Series contains a full line of constant current power sources for Moritex's MG Wave LED lighting solutions, excluding the MCEP Series. Since there are a wide range of lights suitable for different applications, Moritex offers different models of power sources that are designed to meet the current requirements of the lights available. Because heat generation has been reduced, they can be used in a way that makes the most of the unique features of the different LED lights. They are also equipped with a variety of functions, including output control. There are three different sub-series of power sources that differ by current output and they are: the A080 Series, A230 Series, and the B400/B660 Series.

Parallel Lighting LEDs
Moritex has now developed Parallel Lighting LEDs for profile inspection. Moritex's MCBP Series Parallel Lighting LEDs enable the profiles of objects to be captured with high precision. Such profiling applications were difficult with conventional lights because the light was projected from the rear. With these LEDs, the light is projected horizontally along the package and then reflected down vertically. The MCBP series LEDs are ideal for measuring the dimensions of raised objects as well as the recognition of alignment marks on glass substrates.

These dome LEDs are useful in the inspection of curved metal surfaces as well as printed surfaces (i.e. the bottom of aluminum cans). Two different size of dome LEDs are available, each in four different wavelengths: red, green, blue, and white.

Diffuse Lighting Series
Moritex offers three different light guide solutions in our Diffuse Lighting Series. The three different types are:
Dome Type Light Guide
An indirect light in which illumination is reflected off the interior of the dome, resulting in 360ƒ of even and diffuse illumination. This type of light guide is suitable for applications with high reflection and halo problems

Diffuse Lighting Adaptor
This adaptor is for use with standard ring light guides. It greatly reduces reflection and halo effects by illuminating from the inside surface of the dome.
